Introduction

  • Mission's new Online Program Review System is designed to help disciplines on campus to understand student success and enrollment trends and to identify opportunities for growth or improvement.
  • The system asks Division Chairs to respond to prompts in the following areas:
    • Enrollment Trends: Provide comments on the analysis of trends in census and FTES enrollment, instructional delivery modes and student demographics.
    • Student Success: Provide comments on the analysis of trends in retention, success and degrees and certificates awarded.
    • Curriculum: Report progress in course updates, class syllabi, new course offerings and SLO development and assessment.
    • Vocational Requirements (if applicable): Report on advisory board activities.
    • Resource Utilization: Provide comments on analysis of trends in FTEF and identify progress in faculty evaluations, flex compliance, budget activity and facilities use.
    • Accreditation: Report progress on accreditation planning agendas, comprehensive program review agenda items or external program requirements.
    • Unit Plan Objectives: Report progress on previous Unit Plan objectives.
  • The system provides the ability to open the Program Review process to incorporate consultation with discipline faculty as well as mechanisms to manage and document the review process.
  • The results of the Program Review will be compiled into summary reports for review by the College and the shared governance process. The summary reports do not contain discipline specific information (such as objectives or comments), but rather categorizes disciplines by their responses to the Program Review elements. This report will be available immediately after the Program Review process has been completed.
  • The data categories presented in this continuing evolution of Program Review are an initial method of identifying potential issues. These categories will be modified inthe future based on our experience and the needs of the College.
  • By summarizing the Program Review results, the process creates a snapshot of the College along the seven major dimensions of the Program Review process (enrollment, success, curriculum, vocational, resources, accreditation and unit plan). To the extent that these dimensions align with other College and District initiatives (such as the Educational Master Plan's goals, or the District Strategic Plan goals), the Program Review process provides a mechanism for accounting for and documenting our progress towards College and District initiatives, focusing on ensuring overall institutional effectiveness.
